Damodar North Pte Limited has revealed the name of its new hotel in Labasa: the Ramada Encore by Wyndham-Damodar City Labasa. This division of the Damodar Group, a major player in the cinema industry, marks a significant milestone with the introduction of the first international hotel brand in Labasa, enhancing the town’s standing in Fiji’s tourism sector.
Chief Executive Officer Div Damodar highlighted that this hotel, featuring 40 rooms and three suites, includes an 80-seater conference area, a pool, gym, outdoor entertainment space, bar, and restaurant facilities. He noted that it is set to open later this year, catering to both business and leisure travelers.
Mr. Damodar emphasized the hotel’s potential to positively impact Labasa’s economy, stating, “The introduction of an international hotel brand in Labasa is expected to stimulate further growth in the local tourism sector.” He believes that the Ramada Encore will provide new opportunities for tourism development, particularly in the scenic regions surrounding Labasa.
The hotel will serve as a central point for tourism activities in Labasa and will be managed by Damodar North Pte Limited, ensuring a luxurious experience in line with the Ramada Encore brand globally.
This hotel project is part of the broader Damodar City Labasa initiative, which represents a significant commercial development with a total investment of $60 million, of which $10 million is allocated for the hotel’s construction and fit-out. This investment underscores the company’s dedication to boosting Labasa’s tourism appeal, recognizing the area’s untapped potential.
