Damodar North Pte Limited has unveiled the name of its new hotel in Labasa: Ramada Encore by Wyndham-Damodar City Labasa. This division of the Damodar Group, a major player in the cinema industry, marks the introduction of the first international hotel brand in Labasa, enhancing the town’s stature in Fiji’s tourism sector.
According to CEO Div Damodar, the hotel features 40 rooms, including three suites, alongside an 80-seater conference area, a swimming pool, gym, outdoor entertainment area, bar, and restaurant. The hotel is set to open later this year and aims to cater to both business and leisure travelers.
Mr. Damodar anticipates that the new establishment will significantly stimulate the local economy. He stated that the arrival of an international hotel brand is poised to foster further growth within the local tourism industry, presenting more opportunities for tourism activities in Vanua Levu, particularly in the scenic regions surrounding Labasa.
The Ramada Encore will be managed by Damodar North Pte Limited, guaranteeing a luxurious experience consistent with Ramada Encore hotels globally. This new hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, a significant commercial development with a total investment of $60 million, of which $10 million has been allocated for the hotel’s construction and fitting out. This investment underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing Labasa’s tourism appeal, a region rich with unexploited potential.
