Damodar North Pte Limited has unveiled the name of its new hotel in Labasa, which will be called the Ramada Encore by Wyndham-Damodar City Labasa. As a division of the renowned Damodar Group, known for its cinema operations, the company is making a significant move in the hospitality sector.
Div Damodar, the chief executive officer, highlighted that this development marks the introduction of the first international hotel brand in Labasa, enhancing the town’s reputation in Fiji’s tourism industry. He explained that the hotel will feature 40 rooms, three suites, an 80-seat conference area, a swimming pool, a gym, and outdoor entertainment spaces, along with a bar and restaurant.
Slated to open later this year, the new hotel aims to cater to both business and leisure travelers. Mr. Damodar noted that the establishment will serve as a boost to Labasa’s economy. He emphasized that the entry of an international hotel brand is anticipated to drive growth in the local tourism sector, leading to increased opportunities for tourism activities in Vanua Levu, particularly in the scenic areas surrounding Labasa.
Mr. Damodar stated that the hotel aims to become a central hub for tourism activities in Labasa, operating under the management of Damodar North Pte Limited to deliver the luxury experience associated with Ramada Encore hotels globally. The hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, a comprehensive commercial venture with a total investment of $60 million, of which $10 million is allocated for the hotel’s construction and fit-out. This commitment reinforces the company’s dedication to enhancing the tourism appeal of Labasa, a region with significant untapped potential.
