Ramada Encore: A New Dawn for Labasa’s Tourism

The Damodar Group has unveiled a new 40-room hotel, marking a significant advancement in tourism and accommodation in Labasa town. This hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa initiative, a major commercial development, with an investment of $60 million by Damodar North Pte Limited. Out of this, $10 million was allocated for the hotel’s construction and amenities.

Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new hotel, suggesting it will act as a catalyst for bringing more brands to Labasa. He noted that the introduction of the Ramada Encore brand is expected to enhance the local tourism sector, providing a foundation for complementary tourism activities in the scenic regions surrounding Labasa.

The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-furnished rooms, catering to both business and leisure guests. Amenities will include a conference room, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating areas, and dining options, designed to provide a high-quality accommodation experience synonymous with the Ramada Encore global standards.

Looking ahead, Mr. Damodar highlighted the potential for various tourism activities in Labasa, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. The Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, acknowledged the hotel’s potential to uplift hospitality standards in Labasa as the region’s first international hotel brand. He emphasized the Fijian government’s commitment to fostering investment and supporting developments like the Damodar City Labasa project to better position the region for future growth.

The new hotel is slated to open later this year.
