Damodar Group has announced the upcoming opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa town, which is anticipated to transform tourism and accommodation in the region. This hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, representing a comprehensive commercial development with a total investment of $60 million from Damodar North Pte Limited.

Out of this investment, $10 million has been allocated specifically for the hotel’s construction and fitting. Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new branded hotel, which he believes will serve as a catalyst for attracting other brands to Labasa.

He stated, “I am very excited about it as this is the start of a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu, and we strongly believe that there will be other brands coming to Vanualevu, and this would be the catalyst to start it off.” The introduction of the Ramada Encore hotel is expected to boost growth in the local tourism sector, with new opportunities arising for supportive tourism activities, particularly in the scenic areas surrounding Labasa.

Mr. Damodar emphasized that the hotel’s investment demonstrates the company’s commitment to enhancing Labasa’s tourism appeal, leveraging its untapped potential. The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-appointed rooms catering to business and leisure travelers alike.

Guests will enjoy a variety of amenities, including a conference venue, a swimming pool, a gym, and outdoor entertainment areas, all designed to provide a high-quality accommodation experience that aligns with the global standards of the Ramada Encore brand.

Looking ahead, Mr. Damodar identified several potential tourism opportunities in Labasa, including hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica remarked that the Ramada Encore by Wyndham will elevate the hospitality standards in Labasa as the region’s first international brand hotel.

He noted the Fiji Government’s commitment to fostering continued investment and development in Labasa and Vanua Levu, working alongside private investors on projects like Damodar City Labasa to prepare for future growth. The new Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is set to open later this year.
