Fiji National Rugby League Under-18 representative Irfaan Shah is rallying fans to show their support as the team prepares to face Tonga in their inaugural Test match of the year today. Shah emphasizes the importance of a strong supporter presence, particularly those from his hometown of Namaqumaqua in Serua, who have organized transportation to attend the game.

Shah expressed his gratitude for the encouragement from his community, stating, “Support has been great in many ways, and knowing that many of my people will be here to cheer for me will definitely boost me, and I’ll strive to make them proud.” As the only Indo-Fijian on the team, Shah highlights the meaningful lessons he has learned throughout his journey and the strong bonds he has formed with his teammates.

The highly anticipated match is set to kick off at 10 am at Churchill Park in Lautoka. Fans are eager to see the Junior Fiji Bati showcase their skills on the field, especially with scouts from professional teams reportedly in attendance.

This event not only represents a competitive clash but also reflects a broader effort within Fijian rugby to develop young talent and foster community engagement. With rigorous training led by Coach Wise Kativerata, the team is ready to demonstrate their growth and potential. As excitement builds, Shah’s story highlights the sense of unity and opportunity that sports can create for young athletes.

The match against Tonga is a significant milestone for the Junior Bati, serving as both a platform to display their abilities and a chance to inspire future generations of rugby players in Fiji.
