Top midfielder Ashnil Raju is set to make his return for the Inter-District champions Labasa in the upcoming 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup taking place in Lautoka this week. Raju, who had to miss the IDC due to family commitments, will significantly bolster the Babasiga Lions’ midfield.
Coach Ravneel Pratap has confirmed that all key players from their victorious IDC team, including Solomon Islanders Tigi Molea and Junior Fordney, will be available for the tournament. However, one notable absence will be Australia-based Anish Khem, who cannot participate due to work obligations.
Labasa faces a challenging schedule in Group B, competing against the defending champions Auckland All Stars, Rewa, and the USA All Stars. They are set to kick off the tournament against the American team in their first match tomorrow at 4:30 PM.
With Raju back in the lineup, Labasa fans have reason to be optimistic as the team looks to navigate this tough group and make a strong impact in the tournament. The blend of experienced talent and resilience in the squad provides a solid foundation for a competitive performance.
