Raiwaqa Rugby Football Club (RRFC) recently celebrated its Annual Awards Night, honoring the exceptional performances and contributions of its players throughout the 2025 season. The event, which was supported by sponsors DHL, FEXCO Pacific, and Axellerate, brought together players, families, and supporters for a night dedicated to recognition and appreciation.
President Saula Koroi expressed sincere gratitude towards the sponsors, emphasizing their critical role in enabling the club to thrive both on the rugby field and within the Raiwaqa community. He noted the club’s significance as a vital talent nursery in Fiji, producing players who have excelled at various levels, including representing the nation in international competitions.
“We’re really grateful to our sponsors for supporting the work we do here in Raiwaqa, much of which goes well beyond the rugby field,” stated Koroi. He highlighted the successful development program of the club, which has helped nurture players who have made significant strides in the Secondary Schools Rugby system, moved on to overseas clubs, or represented Fiji in multiple sports.
The evening also featured several players being recognized for their outstanding contributions. Kitione Drauivi was awarded Rookie of the Year for his performance as an Openside Flanker and leadership as Captain of the Raiwaqa U20 7s team. Simione Naluvula was honored as Forward of the Year for his excellence as a Prop, while Sailosi Vakataletale received the Backline Player of the Year accolade for his role as a Halfback.
In conclusion, Koroi encouraged club members and supporters to preserve the Raiwaqa sports legacy and continue fostering the next generation of rugby stars and community leaders. The event highlighted not only the achievements on the field but also the club’s broader commitment to community engagement and youth development, creating a hopeful outlook for the future of rugby in Raiwaqa.
