Captain Jonathan Kunau addressed the team’s struggles, specifically their adjustment to the wooden courts at FMF Gymnasium, differing from their conventional concrete training grounds. “Playing on wooden courts was a challenge, but we managed to adjust after getting a feel for it yesterday. So far, we are determined to take home the Fiji Cup for this tournament. This game of basketball is not new to us,” Kunau affirmed.
The team’s accomplishments stem from careful preparation and staunch support from their families and the Raiwaqa Basketball Association. Balancing rigorous training schedules with personal commitments has posed challenges, particularly for team members with family responsibilities. Despite these obstacles, the Raiwaqa team consistently meets for evening practices, ensuring they are well-prepared for competition.
