Two men, Lagani Rabukawaqa, 23, and Saimoni Macedru, 25, have been charged with aggravated robbery following an incident at a Top Shop in Raiwai, Suva, where they allegedly stole a watch and $9 from a 50-year-old man. The incident reportedly took place on the morning of December 14.

During their appearance at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, the pair opted to represent themselves, foregoing their right to legal counsel. The court has remanded both men into custody while the case is set to be adjourned until December 30, where further proceedings will take place.

This incident has sparked conversations about public safety and the rising concerns regarding crime in urban areas. As the case unfolds, local authorities will likely continue to emphasize the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to help reduce similar incidents in the future.
