Adi Cakobau School (ACS) and Suva Grammar School (SGS) were declared co-champions of the Under-19 girls’ category at the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship held in Lautoka last night. The final match experienced a 20-minute delay in the last quarter due to heavy rain, which made the court too slippery for play. At the time of the interruption, ACS held a slim lead of 21-18 with just seven minutes left on the clock.
Prioritizing the safety of the players, the organizers made the decision to crown both teams as joint winners.
In the boys’ competition, Marist Brothers High School triumphed in the Under-19 boys’ final, narrowly defeating Yat Sen Secondary School with a score of 28-24, successfully bringing home the trophy to Kaunikuila.
