Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has applied for the position of Police Commissioner.
“Yes, I applied for the post,” he stated. Raikaci acknowledged that the decision ultimately rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC), but he expressed his readiness to assume the role.
Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law Degree, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Certificate in Law Criminal from the University of the South Pacific. He has extensive experience in various units, including the Uniform Branch and the Crime and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has indicated that Fiji’s next Police Commissioner will be a local candidate selected from within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is set to meet to determine who will lead the police force, following the closure of applications yesterday.
