Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has applied for the position of Police Commissioner.
“Yes, I applied for the post,” he stated. Raikaci indicated that the decision now lies with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC), but he is prepared to assume the role if selected.
Raikaci is an alumnus of the University of the South Pacific, where he earned a Bachelor of Law degree, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Certificate in Law Criminal. He has held various positions within the police force, including roles in the Uniform Branch and the Crime and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has expressed that the next Police Commissioner of Fiji will be chosen from within the local force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is scheduled to convene to decide on the new head of the police force, with the application period having closed recently.
