Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has applied for the position of Police Commissioner. Raikaci stated, “Yes, I applied for the post,” and emphasized that the decision now rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC), expressing his readiness to assume the role.
Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law Degree, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Certificate in Law Criminal from the University of the South Pacific. His professional experience includes various roles within the Police, specifically in the Uniform Branch, Crime, and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has indicated that the upcoming Police Commissioner will be selected from local candidates within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is scheduled to meet to determine the new leadership for the police force, following the closure of applications.
