Six men have been taken into police custody in connection with an unlicensed security group following co-ordinated raids across five locations in the Central and Southern divisions. The operations were initiated after reports surfaced of criminal trespass and unauthorized actions by individuals posing as security officials.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe, highlighted that the operation stemmed from a complaint involving alleged security personnel who entered a school property without authorization just last week.
Mr. Vusonilawe stated, “Consecutive raids were conducted at five locations linked to the reported criminal trespass. Early this morning’s operations targeted areas where the suspects were thought to be operating, as well as their business premises in Nabua.”
Though the identities of those arrested have not been disclosed, it’s reported that the group may have ties to a well-known criminal figure in Suva. Furthermore, there are suspicions that the alleged security outfit provided protection to a high-profile individual associated with significant drug trafficking operations.
As part of these unfolding events, The Fiji Times inquired about the official licensing or business registration of the group, as well as the seizure of any firearms, surveillance equipment, or narcotics during the raids. Police have yet to provide detailed responses regarding these questions.
