The Vusu Raiders celebrated a significant victory after defeating the Topline Warriors 30-20 in the Vodafone Cup quarterfinal held at Lawaqa Park. The Namatakula-based team showcased their strength right from the start, leading 24-0 thanks to a combination of strong defense and effective offense.

With a supportive home crowd behind them, the Raiders added another six points in the second half, while the Warriors made a late attempt to close the gap with 20 points. However, it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome, and the Raiders secured their win with a final score of 30-20.

Team manager Solomoni Tuqiri commended the players for their performance, noting that despite several disruptions in their training due to local challenges, they still managed to deliver an impressive result. He mentioned, “We did not have a good session of training in the village as there were a lot of family commitments, lots of deaths, so our players were committed to that, but we thank them for the good result they have produced.”

Former Canberra Raiders and Fiji Rugby star Noa Nadruku has been instrumental in motivating the team leading up to this crucial match. The Raiders are set to face the Waitaci Titans in the semi-finals. The Titans advanced after pulling off an upset against the Nadera Panthers, winning 32-28 in the other quarterfinal match. Additionally, Ravoravo Rabbitohs secured their spot in the semifinals with a 24-18 victory over the Laselase Cowboys.
