Three men are currently in police custody following a raid that uncovered sachets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, wrapped in aluminum foil. According to police reports, two of the individuals were arrested on Sunday afternoon, while the third suspect was taken into custody the following day.
Authorities from the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) conducted the operation at a residence located in the Tamole Settlement area of New Town. During the raid, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant voluntarily surrendered a total of 117 sachets of the suspected illicit substance.
The third suspect, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement, was arrested after police discovered additional dried leaves, also believed to be marijuana, in his home. This individual also willingly handed over some of the dried leaves when confronted.
All three men remain in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
