Semi Radradra may be on the verge of leaving Lyon mid-season, with speculation indicating that the Fijian centre is likely to join a Japanese rugby franchise.
The 32-year-old Fijian international is currently contracted with LOU until June 2025. However, reports suggest that he has received multiple offers from Top League clubs and is expected to accept one of them.
Radradra’s potential departure would conclude a difficult stint at Lyon, where he has made just fifteen appearances and scored only one try since his arrival.
In anticipation of Radradra’s exit, Lyon has reportedly started searching for potential replacements. The club is reportedly interested in Fijian Drua’s Iosefo Mafi as a successor, as well as Toulouse’s Ange Capuozzo and Timoci Tavatavanawai from the Highlanders.
Originally from Suva, Radradra began his career in rugby Sevens before transitioning to rugby league with the Parramatta Eels in the NRL in 2013. During his time with the Eels, he played 94 games and scored 82 tries, establishing himself as one of the league’s top wingers.
In 2017, Radradra switched to rugby union, signing with Toulon, where he played 21 matches and scored nine tries over two seasons. After leaving Toulon, he joined Bordeaux Bègles, becoming a key player with ten tries in 22 appearances.
His impressive performances in France led him to the English Premiership with the Bristol Bears from 2020 to 2023, where he made 53 appearances and scored 18 tries, contributing to their victory in the European Challenge Cup in 2020.
Radradra has represented Fiji in 20 test matches, including the 2019 Rugby World Cup, scoring six tries for his national team. His versatility allows him to play various positions, including wing, centre, and fullback.
