Radisson Blu Resort Fiji is committed to corporate social responsibility, embodying the Radisson Hotel Group’s values of “Think People, Community and Planet.” Recently, the resort executed several “Responsible Business” initiatives in Nadi, reaching as far as Bukuya Village in the interior of Viti Levu. This effort was led by Responsible Business manager Satya Narayan and included active participation from resort guests, focusing on uplifting local communities.
Activities carried out included staff health checks, a blood donation drive, and a cooking class at a village school. Chef Walter and his culinary team from the resort held an interactive cooking session for children at the village school, teaching them valuable cooking skills in a fun atmosphere. The session culminated in a nourishing lunch provided by the resort.
During the visit, the team identified areas for improvement and plans to make donations later this year. The resort also extended its initiatives to Saint Mina’s Children’s Home in Legalega, Nadi. Over the week, dedicated engineering and landscaping staff worked on building a greenhouse and preparing soil for vegetable planting.
Volunteers, including resort staff and guests, collaborated to create a garden that promotes sustainable living. This initiative not only offered hands-on gardening experience to the children but also educated them on the importance of fresh food and self-sufficiency. The garden is intended to be a long-term resource, fostering responsibility and a connection to nature among the children.
Charles Homsy, general manager of Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, emphasized that these initiatives not only benefit the community but also encourage sustainable practices. He stated, “These initiatives reflect our ongoing dedication to responsible business and the positive impact we aim to have on the lives of those around us.”
The resort is committed to continuing its Responsible Business initiatives to ensure sustainable contributions to the community and the environment.
