Corporate social responsibility has become a standard practice for many businesses today, and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji exemplifies this by implementing the Radisson Hotel Group’s values of “Think People, Community and Planet.” The resort has been actively involved in promoting responsible business practices.
Recently, the resort completed several “Responsible Business” initiatives in Nadi, reaching as far as Bukuya Village in the interior of Viti Levu. Under the leadership of Responsible Business manager Satya Narayan, along with enthusiastic resort guests, the team engaged in various activities designed to support local communities.
These activities included health checks for staff, blood donation drives, and a cooking class at a village school. For the children in Bukuya Village, the resort’s Chef Walter and his culinary team hosted an interactive cooking session, where the children learned valuable cooking skills in an enjoyable setting.
Following the cooking session, a delicious lunch was provided by the resort, bringing joy and nourishment to the children. The resort noted that they identified areas for improvement during the visit and plans to make donations later this year.
In addition to their efforts in Bukuya, Radisson Blu Resort also extended its initiatives to Saint Mina’s Children’s Home in Legalega, Nadi. Throughout the week, dedicated engineering and landscaping staff worked on constructing a greenhouse for the home and preparing the soil for planting vegetables.
Volunteers, including resort staff and guests, collaborated to establish a garden aimed at promoting sustainable living. This project not only provides the children with practical gardening experience but also educates them on the significance of fresh food and self-sufficiency. The garden is intended to be a long-term resource for the children, helping them develop a sense of responsibility and connection to nature.
Charles Homsy, the general manager of Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, stated that these initiatives contribute positively to the community while fostering sustainable practices. Homsy emphasized that their ongoing commitment to responsible business aims to benefit the lives of those in the surrounding areas.
The resort intends to continue its Responsible Business initiatives, ensuring a sustained contribution to both the community and the environment.
