The annual Melbourne Cup celebration at the Heineken House in Denarau has successfully generated funds for the ‘Run to Give’ initiative, which supports various charitable causes. Neeraj Chadha, the Multi-Property Vice President for Fiji and Samoa at Marriott International, emphasized the event’s focus on fun, community engagement, and charity over the past six years.

This year’s proceeds will contribute to Markets for Change, a UNICEF program that has seen participation from hotels across Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. The ‘Run to Give’ initiative has already raised over $30,000, and this event adds to that total, further aiding women entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses within their communities.

The Melbourne Cup event drew over a hundred attendees, including tourists and members of the Nadi Hash Harriers, marking it as a sellout success. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with good food, beverages, and performances from local artists such as the Vou Dance group, alongside a charity auction for painted artworks.

The support for this charitable endeavor came from sponsors including Heineken, Lanson, and DGRC, showcasing a strong collaboration between businesses and community-focused initiatives.

This event not only celebrates the Melbourne Cup but also highlights the spirit of giving and support within the community. The impact of such gatherings extends beyond just enjoyment, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts to uplift local enterprises and social causes.

In a world where community support is crucial, events like this inspire hope and showcase how fun can be blended with philanthropy to create positive change.
