Racing 92 winger Vinaya Habosi has reportedly been apprehended following a violent incident involving his partner.

Reports from France indicate that Habosi was arrested on Sunday evening after a drunken dispute at his residence in Plessis-Robinson, Hauts-de-Seine. Witnesses informed Le Parisien that an argument escalated between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby.

Following the altercation, it is claimed that when his wife fell to the ground, Habosi began to strike her on the back of the head. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed, and Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services, showing no apparent injuries.

According to sources, Habosi appeared to be intoxicated and contested the accusations, denying that he had pushed or hit his wife.

The player had participated in Racing 92’s recent match, coming off the bench in a 33-20 win over Clermont in the Top 14.

In response to the allegations, Racing 92 issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation involving Habosi. They stated, “Racing 92 has taken note of the facts alleged against its player Vinaya Habosi. Pending further information from the competent authorities, Racing 92 will refrain from any further comment.”

This incident is not the first involving domestic abuse for Habosi; he joined the French club earlier than planned last year after his contract with the Fijian Drua was terminated. A report of assault was made at the Namaka Police Station in February of last year, prompting the Drua to end his contract prior to the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.
