Racing 92 Star Vinaya Habosi Arrested After Domestic Incident

Fiji winger Vinaya Habosi, who plays for Racing 92, has reportedly been detained following a violent incident involving his partner. Reports from France indicate that Habosi was arrested on Sunday evening after a drunken dispute at his home in Plessis-Robinson, located in Hauts-de-Seine.

Witnesses informed Le Parisien that a confrontation between Habosi and his wife escalated when he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Following the altercation, it was reported that his wife fell, and Habosi proceeded to strike her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the baby was not harmed during the incident, and Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services, showing no visible injuries.

According to the same sources, Habosi appeared to be heavily intoxicated during the incident and contended that he did not push or hit his partner. He had played for Racing 92 in the previous day’s match, contributing to their 33-20 win over Clermont in round two of the Top 14.

In response to the allegations, Racing 92 released a brief statement acknowledging the situation. They noted, “Racing 92 has taken note of the facts alleged against its player Vinaya Habosi. Pending further information from the competent authorities, Racing 92 will refrain from any further comment.”

This incident is not the first time Habosi has faced allegations of domestic violence. He joined Racing 92 early last year after his contract with the Fijian Drua was terminated following a complaint filed against him for an alleged assault at the Namaka Police Station in February. The Drua took action after conducting a thorough investigation prior to the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.
