The thrilling finale of the latest series of The Traitors aired on Friday, wrapping up three weeks filled with murder, betrayal, and tension. With only three players left, traitor Stephen Libby faced a critical choice between sticking to his alliance with fellow traitor Rachel Duffy or eliminating the last faithful player, Jack Butler, who had become a close friend. Ultimately, Stephen decided to honor his word to Rachel and voted for Jack, leading the duo to victory and a shared prize of £95,750.

The finale drew over nine million viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the civilian version of the show to date. At its peak, it attracted an impressive 9.6 million viewers, reminiscent of the Celebrity Traitors final last November, which averaged 11.1 million viewers.

Host Claudia Winkleman celebrated the outcome, saying, “Two traitors, but totally faithful to each other.” Rachel, who made history as the first female traitor to win in the UK version, expressed her elation, stating, “It’s the best feeling in the world.” She plans to use her share of the prize money for a holiday and to create lasting memories with her children and her mother, who is suffering from dementia.

Rachel and Stephen, both selected as traitors at the start, formed a strong alliance that allowed them to navigate the series largely undetected. Rachel, particularly, showcased a masterclass in strategy by deftly diverting the attention of the loyal players. Despite facing scrutiny from fellow competitors like Fiona Hughes and Harriet Tyce, Rachel maintained her composure and executed a remarkably clever game.

Their alliance nearly faltered towards the end, but they upheld their commitment to vote for others rather than each other. While Stephen played strategically, his more overt expressions of stress and surprise became a talking point among fans.

The duo will receive £47,875 each, with Stephen planning to give back to his parents, acknowledging their sacrifices for his education. Jack, who placed his trust in Stephen, expressed his astonishment at the betrayal, saying, “That’s completely unexpected, what a curveball, I’ve been totally played.”

The final episode marked a dramatic conclusion to a series filled with unexpected twists, including the introduction of a “secret traitor,” Fiona, who initially created tension by turning on Rachel. However, Rachel deftly maneuvered through conflicts to solidify her place as the winner.

This successful season of The Traitors has captivated audiences with its engaging storytelling and strategic gameplay, solidifying its position as a standout in the UK’s reality television landscape. As viewers reflect on the unpredictable journey, the triumph of Rachel and Stephen serves as a reminder of the compelling nature of alliances in competitive settings.
