Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka held a meeting yesterday with senior police officers as part of his familiarization process in his new role as Minister Responsible for Police and Immigration. The meeting took place with key figures including Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and Deputy Police Commissioner Sakeo Raikaci, along with three other senior officials from the Fiji Police Force.

During this session, the Prime Minister sought to gain insights into the current operational and management framework of the police force. Responding to inquiries from The Fiji Times, Rabuka noted that these briefings are crucial for his understanding of the police and immigration sectors, stating, “It was my ‘familiarization briefing’ from the Acting Commissioner and his Senior Management/Command team.” He also highlighted his plans to meet with the Acting Director of Immigration and other senior staff later today.

Additionally, Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua and key officials from the Office of the Prime Minister were present at the meeting, underscoring the government’s commitment to effectively managing the police and immigration services.
