Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has made significant changes to his Cabinet, announcing the appointment of two new Ministers and one Assistant Minister as part of a reshuffle aimed at enhancing governance during the government’s final two years in office.

Lynda Tabuya has been appointed as the new Minister for Information, a portfolio previously held by the Prime Minister himself. In his announcement, Rabuka expressed confidence in Tabuya’s ability to lead the government’s public relations efforts and improve engagement with the public and media. This move is intended to strengthen government transparency, allowing for better communication with citizens.

Additionally, Tomasi Tunabuna has been promoted from Assistant Minister for Agriculture to the Minister for Agriculture, taking over from Alitia Bainivalu, who had served in an acting capacity following the passing of the late Vatimi Rayalu. Inosi Kuridrani has been appointed as the new Assistant Minister for Agriculture, supporting Tunabuna in his new role.

Prime Minister Rabuka noted that these appointments reflect his confidence in the leadership and experience of the newly appointed ministers, stating, “I am certain they will work hard to advance the government’s development agenda.” The changes are expected to take effect following the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, 5 August 2025.

This reshuffle aligns with Rabuka’s ongoing efforts to strategically position his government for the challenges ahead and indicates a proactive approach toward governance, which includes enhancing collaboration and responsiveness in addressing key issues facing the nation.

The anticipated outcomes from this reshuffle are promising, as it brings fresh perspectives and potentially revitalizes the government’s operations to better serve the needs of the public and meet the goals set for the remaining term.
