Fiji’s Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sitiveni Rabuka, has urged the nation’s Heads of Mission to prioritize the best interests of Fiji while serving abroad. During the opening of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions Meeting, he commended these officials as dedicated servants to Fiji.
Rabuka encouraged High Commissioners and Ambassadors to take advantage of Fiji’s longstanding commitment to peacekeeping. He noted that Fiji is recognized as the longest-serving country in the United Nations for peacekeeping missions, underscoring its reputation on the global stage.
The Prime Minister also mentioned Fiji’s advocacy for a resolution emphasizing a region of peace, which is expected to be adopted during the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting. Additionally, he expressed Fiji’s readiness to support Vanuatu in its recovery efforts following the recent 7.3 magnitude earthquake.
In his address, Rabuka plans to have individual meetings with representatives to address the specific challenges they encounter in their duties.
