Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced a Cabinet reshuffle as the Coalition Government approaches its third year in office, with the changes set to come into effect on January 19, 2026. In a statement released on Monday, Rabuka emphasized that these ministerial portfolio adjustments aim to bolster governance in preparation for the government’s forthcoming fourth year.

Among the new appointments, Sakiasi Ditoka will step into the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, while Mosese Bulitavu is assigned to oversee Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management. Lynda Tabuya is being reassigned as Minister for Information, Environment, and Climate Change.

Charan Jeath Singh will now manage Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts, with Ifereimi Vasu taking charge of iTaukei Affairs, which encompasses iTaukei culture, heritage, and arts. Tomasi Tunabuna has been named Minister for Agriculture and the Sugar Industry, highlighting the government’s attention to critical sectors.

Notably, Prime Minister Rabuka will continue to oversee Civil Service and Strategic Planning, as well as National Development and Statistics. Furthermore, the office accommodation and housing unit is being transitioned to the Ministry of Public Works, while the Ministry of Civil Service will maintain its role in establishing overarching government policy regarding these areas.

The reshuffle also includes the reassignment of Sachida Nand as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development. Rabuka stated that this reshuffle represents a pivotal moment for the Government, reinforcing its commitment to deliver on the needs and expectations of the citizens.

These strategic changes within the Cabinet reflect a proactive approach to governance, signaling the administration’s dedication to adapt and respond to the dynamic needs of the nation as it continues its journey forward.
