Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has addressed ongoing concerns about ethnic exclusion in business, assuring communities across Fiji that they are safe and supported under the Coalition Government. At the inauguration of the $6 million George Shiu Raj Complex in Rakiraki, Rabuka dismissed fears surrounding a possible resurgence of iTaukei nationalism, emphasizing that all citizens of Fiji are entitled to pursue commercial opportunities without apprehension.
In his address, Rabuka recommitted to representing the interests of all ethnic groups within the nation, stating, “I want to assure all ethnic groups in Fiji that we will look after your interests. You do not have anything to worry about.” This message of inclusivity is vital for fostering national unity and is a cornerstone for economic growth, according to the Prime Minister.
In highlighting the significance of cooperation, Rabuka cited Ra businessman George Shiu Raj as a role model for success through mutual trust and partnership. The newly established complex is expected to enhance economic activity, create jobs, and bolster development in the region. Offering spaces for various businesses, the George Shiu Raj Complex in Nalawa is poised to significantly improve local livelihoods and contribute to building a more resilient national economy.
This development reflects a hopeful vision for Fiji, where unity and collaboration can lead to sustainable economic opportunities for all communities, reinforcing the idea that collective progress is paramount for national prosperity.
