Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stated that he is not aware of any concerns expressed by the Methodist Church of Fiji regarding statements made by Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya.
Tabuya has faced backlash for her suggestion of implementing the death penalty for individuals involved in large-scale drug trafficking. “No, I have not been informed, I have not heard from the MCIF directly,” Rabuka commented.
As of the latest report, Rabuka had not indicated whether he would meet with Tabuya upon his return to Fiji. He is currently attending the 53rd Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting in Tonga, which will conclude tomorrow.
