“Rabuka Prepares for UNGA with Bold ‘Oceans for Peace’ Initiative”

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that his upcoming attendance at the United Nations General Assembly will coincide with the adoption of his ‘Ocean for Peace’ policy, which he proposed during the 53rd Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting in Tonga last month. While speaking at the launch of Fiji’s Foreign Policy White Paper, Rabuka shared that he aims to present this policy at the UNGA following the approval of the framework at the upcoming meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands, next year. He also mentioned that he has requested His Excellency the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, to represent him as the Leader of Government at the 79th United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York this week. Rabuka emphasized that the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat is collaborating with the Fiji Government to develop a plan aimed at promoting peace and security among Pacific nations.
