Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised China’s rural revitalization initiatives during his current official visit to the country. This week, Rabuka explored areas in Yunnan Province, expressing hope for collaborative efforts in rural development with local leaders.
In an interview with CGTN, he shared his admiration upon viewing images of a village from 1992 alongside current photographs, noting the significant progress made over the past 32 years. He remarked, “I was Prime Minister of Fiji in 1992, and I’m Prime Minister again now. But nowhere in Fiji have we seen any improvement as close to what we have seen here.” Rabuka expressed his congratulations to past and current Chinese leaders, particularly President Xi Jinping, for their commitment to poverty alleviation and enhancing the living standards of Chinese people, especially in underprivileged regions with minority ethnic populations.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister visited Malipo, a county located on the China-Vietnam border, where he toured two villages—Ping’anpo and Nanyou. During his visit, he learned about the advancements in agricultural development, education, and the conservation of ethnic culture due to rural revitalization efforts.
Rabuka’s journey in the People’s Republic of China continues for another ten days.
