Wayne Bennett has been confirmed as the NRL Head Coach, leading the team through at least the 2027 season. He will be supported by NRL Assistant Coaches Ben Hornby and Steve Antonelli. Hornby, who joined as a Development Coach in 2020 and rose to Interim Head Coach during the 2024 season, continues his journey with the Rabbitohs. Antonelli returns to the club after a short tenure with the Parramatta Eels, having previously worked with the Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup team and as an NRL Assistant Coach.

John Sutton, a club legend, will maintain his role as Development Coach, focusing on nurturing the club’s young talent and ensuring cohesion across various age groups. Wayne Collins, a former premiership-winning Assistant Coach, will rejoin the team as the NSW Cup Head Coach.

New appointments include Trent Elkin as the Head of Performance, bringing his vast experience from other top clubs. Tom Watkins has also been appointed as the Pathways Head of High Performance. Mark Ellison will transition from Head of Football to Head of Recruitment and Retention, concentrating on bringing in and keeping top talent at the club.

David Furner takes on the Head of Pathways role, overseeing the development of players from open age down to under 17s, while Tyrone McCarthy will support him as the Pathways Skill Acquisition Coach. Jason Clark has been elevated to Football Manager, working alongside Kyle Furner on day-to-day operations, and Rob Capizzi returns to the club to focus on women’s operations and an upcoming NRLW team.

A robust team of existing medical and performance staff, including notable figures like Dr. Andrew McDonald and Ian Reeves, will continue in their vital roles as the Rabbitohs gear up for the new season.

This restructuring and the addition of experienced coaches signify the Rabbitohs’ commitment to building a strong future, emphasizing development, integration, and competitive performance. Supporters can look forward to an exciting season ahead as the Rabbitohs enhance their strategies for success.

Overall, the focus on nurturing young talent and expanding operational capabilities presents a hopeful outlook for South Sydney Rabbitohs as they prepare for future challenges and opportunities in the league.
