The South Sydney Rabbitohs have officially announced their coaching structure and staff appointments in preparation for the 2025 season, signaling a commitment to maintaining a strong football program.

As previously revealed, veteran coach Wayne Bennett will continue as the NRL Head Coach from 2025 through 2027. Supporting him will be NRL Assistant Coaches Ben Hornby and Steve Antonelli. Hornby, who joined the Rabbitohs in 2020 as a Development Coach and later served as Interim Head Coach in 2024, remains a key figure in the coaching lineup. Antonelli makes a return to the Rabbitohs after coaching in the past with the NSW Cup side and partaking in the coaching operations of the Parramatta Eels.

Legendary player John Sutton will maintain his role as Development Coach, focusing on the integration of young talent across all levels from NRL to under-17 teams. Wayne Collins, a previous premiership-winning Assistant Coach for the Rabbitohs, will also be back as the NSW Cup Head Coach in 2025.

The Rabbitohs have also added Trent Elkin as the Head of Performance, bringing in a wealth of experience from various high-performance programs, alongside Tom Watkins, who will manage Pathways Head of High Performance. Additionally, Mark Ellison will transition from Head of Football to Head of Recruitment and Retention, reinforcing the team’s efforts in securing and retaining talent.

David Furner steps into the Head of Pathways role, overseeing player and coach development from under-17s to senior levels, while Tyrone McCarthy will serve as the Pathways Skill Acquisition Coach. Jason Clark has been elevated to the Football Manager position, effectively managing the daily operations for the coaching and football staff. Rob Capizzi is set to focus on the development of a future NRLW team as the Pathways and Women’s Operations Manager.

A full roster of medical and performance staff will continue in their roles, ensuring a comprehensive support system for the players as they head into the new season.

This strategic coaching lineup demonstrates the Rabbitohs’ dedication to both current success and future growth, particularly with an emphasis on developing young talent and maintaining the club’s competitive edge in the NRL. Fans can look forward to an exciting season with this solid foundation paving the way for potential achievements ahead.
