Rabbitohs Unveil Exciting Coaching Changes for 2025

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to reveal their coaching structure and new staff appointments for the upcoming 2025 season. Wayne Bennett has been confirmed as the NRL Head Coach, extending his leadership from 2025 through 2027. He will be supported by NRL Assistant Coaches Ben Hornby and Steve Antonelli. Hornby, who has been with the Rabbitohs since 2020, stepped up as Interim Head Coach during the 2024 season, while Antonelli returns to the club after coaching positions outside of South Sydney.

Club legend John Sutton will maintain his position as Development Coach, focusing on nurturing elite young talent across all age groups from the NRL down to under 17s. Wayne Collins is set to return as the NSW Cup Head Coach, bringing with him invaluable experience from his previous tenure with the Rabbitohs.

Trent Elkin has been appointed as the new Head of Performance for 2025, bringing extensive experience from his previous roles with other clubs such as the Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels. Tom Watkins will also join the Rabbitohs as Pathways Head of High Performance.

Mark Ellison, previously the Head of Football, will transition into the Head of Recruitment and Retention, focusing on player recruitment. David Furner steps into the newly created Head of Pathways role, overseeing player development across age divisions. Tyrone McCarthy will support Furner as the Pathways Skill Acquisition Coach.

Jason Clark has been promoted to Football Manager, working alongside Kyle Furner on daily operations for the football staff. Rob Capizzi returns to manage Pathways and Women’s Operations, with a goal of preparing the Rabbitohs for future NRLW participation.

The club’s medical and support staff will remain intact, including Chief Medical Officer Dr. Andrew McDonald and Strength and Conditioning Coach Jack Milligan, ensuring a strong health and performance framework going into the new season.

This fresh coaching lineup signals a promising future for the Rabbitohs as they aim to foster talent while maintaining competitive performance on the field.
