Rabbitohs Boost Roster with Fijian Star Mikaele Ravalawa

Rabbitohs Land Fijian Star: What to Expect from Ravalawa?

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have secured the signature of Fijian winger Mikaele Ravalawa, adding to their roster for the remainder of the 2025 season. At 27 years old, Ravalawa brings an impressive NRL track record with 98 appearances since he began his professional career with the St. George Illawarra Dragons in 2019. His career includes an outstanding tally of 67 tries and five caps for the Fiji national team, underscoring his prolific scoring ability.

Ravalawa initially started his rugby league journey with the Canberra Raiders, where he was recognized as the under-20s player of the year in 2017. His powerful and dynamic playing style makes him a perfect fit for the Rabbitohs, who are expected to benefit significantly from his skills as a finisher and his aggressive running approach.

Mark Ellison, Head of Recruitment and Retention for the Rabbitohs, expressed high hopes for Ravalawa, noting that his experience and unique style will bolster the team’s depth in the outside backs. The acquisition comes at a time when the recognition of Fijian talent in the NRL is on the rise, with players like Maika Sivo and Suliasi Vunivalu also making notable moves within the league recently.

This signing signifies not only a fresh start for Ravalawa but also reflects an increasing appreciation for the contributions of Fijian athletes in rugby league. The optimism surrounding Ravalawa’s integration into the team could infuse new energy into the Rabbitohs, setting the stage for a competitive season ahead and fostering hope among fans and players alike.
