The South Sydney Rabbitohs have officially signed Fijian winger Mikaele Ravalawa for the remainder of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old player, who has made 98 appearances in the NRL since debuting with the St. George Illawarra Dragons in 2019, adds a significant asset to the Rabbitohs’ roster.
Ravalawa has a remarkable track record, having scored 67 tries throughout his career and earned five caps for the Fiji national team. Starting his journey in rugby league with the Canberra Raiders, he claimed the under-20s player of the year award in 2017 before moving to the Dragons for the 2019 season. His powerful playing style and skillful try-scoring ability make him a valuable addition to the Rabbitohs’ arsenal.
Mark Ellison, the Rabbitohs’ Head of Recruitment and Retention, expressed his enthusiasm about Ravalawa’s signing, highlighting his experience and unique playing style that will enhance the team’s depth in the outside backs. Ravalawa’s aggressive running and ability to finish scoring plays is expected to bring a new dimension to the Rabbitohs’ attack.
This transfer not only marks a new beginning for Ravalawa but also reflects the growing recognition of Fijian talent in the NRL, following the footsteps of other notable players from the Pacific Islands. Players like Maika Sivo and Suliasi Vunivalu have recently made impactful moves to other clubs, showcasing the rising prominence of Fijian athletes in the league.
With this signing, there is a positive outlook for both Ravalawa and the Rabbitohs as they gear up for a competitive season ahead. The addition of Ravalawa could infuse fresh energy into the squad, fostering optimism among fans and players alike.
