The grand opening of the $6 million ShopPlus Supermarket, Foodies Delightful Restaurant, and Dreams Bakery in Waimicia, Rakiraki, marks a significant milestone for Ra Province, bringing immediate employment opportunities with the creation of 50 new jobs and the promise of a total of 60 positions in the near future. This development is seen as a catalyst for the revitalization of rural areas within the province.
Assistant Minister for Justice Josaia Niudamu highlighted at the inauguration that this project is more than just an infrastructure improvement—it’s a meaningful investment in the local community. Spearheaded by Rakiraki entrepreneur George Shiu Raj, this initiative is expected to reduce travel times for residents, invigorate local suppliers, and stimulate broader business activities across Ra.
