Independent Member of Parliament Ratu Josaia Niudamu from Ra has expressed his support for the nomination of high chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu of Cakaudrove for the presidency. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to present Ratu Naiqama’s nomination during a special parliamentary session scheduled for October 31.
Ratu Josaia stated, “As an independent member of Parliament from the Province of Ra, I wish to publicly endorse and support the nomination of the honourable Prime Minister for the Gone Turaga na Tui Cakau to be our next president.” He added that after consulting with his supporters in the Ra Province, they unanimously back the Tui Cakau nominee.
Ratu Niudamu is among a group of nine former FijiFirst MPs who have committed to support Prime Minister Rabuka in Parliament.
