Defending champions Queen Victoria School advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal held at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS made a strong start, scoring the first try in the 20th minute, followed by another try just two minutes later. This quick succession of points gave them a 13-3 lead at halftime, putting Marist on the defensive.
Despite their strong first half, QVS was unable to add to their score in the second half as Marist improved their defensive efforts and closed the gap with a penalty kick, bringing the score to 13-6.
However, QVS’s defense held strong, with the team displaying great resilience and determination to maintain their lead. Marist pressed hard in the final moments, but QVS successfully denied them any further scoring opportunities.
