Queen Victoria School successfully retained their U18 Vodafone Super Deans title, defeating Nasinu Secondary School 27-13 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. QVS took an early lead when hooker Waisake Vakacere scored the first try in the 12th minute, converted by fullback Nathan Stephens for a 7-0 advantage.
They extended their lead to 12-0 with another try from winger Joleni Raiyawa in the 19th minute. Nasinu’s Samuela Ravoci kept his team competitive by scoring two penalty kicks, closing the gap to 12-6.
However, Stephens increased QVS’s lead with another penalty, bringing the score to 15-6 by halftime. In the second half, openside flanker Ilaitia Rakuro scored early, pushing the advantage to 20-6 for the defending champions.
Asaeli Gade then sealed the victory with another try, putting Nasinu out of contention. In the final moments, Sionasa Verenasau scored Nasinu’s first try, but it was too late for a comeback, allowing QVS to celebrate their hard-fought win.
