Defending champions Queen Victoria School secured a spot in the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal match at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS made a strong start, opening the scoring with a try in the 20th minute, followed by another try just two minutes later. This quick succession of points allowed them to lead 13-3 at halftime, leaving Marist in a challenging position.
In the second half, QVS was unable to increase their score as Marist tightened their defense and managed to score a penalty kick, narrowing the gap to 13-6. However, the defense of QVS held strong, displaying tremendous grit and determination to maintain their lead.
Marist pressed hard in the final moments of the match, but QVS stood resolute, preventing their opponents from scoring any additional points.
