Queen Victoria School clinched their U18 Vodafone Super Deans title once again with a decisive 27-13 win over Nasinu Secondary School at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
QVS started the match on a high note, with hooker Waisake Vakacere scoring the first try in the 12th minute, successfully converted by fullback Nathan Stephens, which gave them an early 7-0 lead. Winger Joleni Raiyawa added another try in the 19th minute, extending their lead to 12-0.
Nasinu’s Samuela Ravoci kept his side competitive by scoring two penalty kicks, which narrowed the score to 12-6. However, QVS responded with a penalty by Stephens, increasing their lead to 15-6 at halftime.
In the second half, openside flanker Ilaitia Rakuro scored in the corner early on, pushing QVS’s lead to 20-6. Asaeli Gade then capped off the victory with another try, leaving Nasinu with little hope of recovery.
Despite a late try from Nasinu’s Sionasa Verenasau, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome, allowing Queen Victoria School to celebrate their well-deserved triumph.
