Queen Victoria School secured their U18 Vodafone Super Deans title with a decisive 27-13 win against Nasinu Secondary School at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
QVS established an early lead when hooker Waisake Vakacere scored the first try in the 12th minute, followed by a successful conversion from fullback Nathan Stephens, bringing the score to 7-0. They added to their lead with another try by winger Joleni Raiyawa in the 19th minute, extending their advantage to 12-0.
Nasinu’s Samuela Ravoci contributed to his team’s efforts with two penalty kicks, reducing the deficit to 12-6. However, Stephens further pushed QVS ahead by converting a penalty, resulting in a halftime score of 15-6.
In the second half, openside flanker Ilaitia Rakuro scored another try, increasing QVS’s lead to 20-6. Asaeli Gade confirmed the victory for QVS with a final try, putting them out of reach for Nasinu.
In the closing moments, Nasinu managed to get on the scoreboard with a try from Sionasa Verenasau, but it was not enough, allowing QVS to celebrate their well-deserved championship victory.
