Anare Tabakaucoro, the under-18 captain of Queen Victoria School, expressed great pride following his team’s victory in the Super Deans Trophy final against Nasinu Secondary School. He credited their triumph to their dedication, unity, and determination throughout the season.
The defending champions secured a convincing 27-13 win in the final, which took place at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Tabakaucoro stated that the match felt manageable for them, thanks to their faith in God, emphasizing their focus on fulfilling their responsibilities on the field.
He highlighted the importance of their coach’s advice leading up to the final, which encouraged them to enjoy the game without pressure. “It wasn’t a hard game for us because we have faith in the Almighty God. We just came here to do our job and get the win,” Tabakaucoro remarked.
Despite facing various challenges in their everyday lives, the team demonstrated remarkable camaraderie. “I’m really proud of the boys’ performance and the teamwork. Even though we face challenges in our day-to-day life, we managed to work as a team and play for each other and for our families,” he added.
As he approaches his final year in school, Tabakaucoro is now focusing on preparing for his exams and aims to achieve excellence. He expressed his gratitude to the teachers, parents, fans, and supporters of Queen Victoria School for their consistent encouragement.
