Defending champions Queen Victoria School advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition after defeating Marist Brothers High School 13-6 in the final quarterfinal match at HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS started the game with a strong performance, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by another two minutes later. This quick scoring streak gave them a 13-3 lead at halftime, putting Marist on the defensive.
In the second half, QVS was unable to add to their score as Marist improved their defensive efforts and responded with a penalty kick, narrowing the gap to 13-6. However, QVS’s defense remained strong, displaying great resilience to maintain their lead.
In the final moments of the game, Marist made a concerted effort to level the score, but QVS effectively thwarted their attempts, ensuring they did not concede any further points.
