Queen Victoria School Unveils Off-Season Training Ahead of Coca-Cola Games

Queen Victoria School (QVS) is poised to enhance its athletics program with the introduction of a structured off-season training initiative. This groundbreaking program represents a significant development for the school, which has consistently ranked among the top competitors at the Coca-Cola Games despite lacking a formal pre-season structure.

With preparations underway for the 2026 competitions, QVS is determined to elevate its performance standards. Banuve Tabakaucoro, a former sprint champion of the South Pacific and current sprint coach at QVS, believes this initiative is well overdue. He highlighted that while the past season did not include an off-season training program, the school’s management and taskforce have recognized the importance of implementing one for the first time.

Tabakaucoro emphasized that QVS has historically excelled with limited preparation, frequently finishing in the top three or five at the Coca-Cola Games. He is optimistic that the new off-season program will provide a solid foundation for athletes, significantly improving their competitiveness in the upcoming season.

His vision for the program is to cultivate long-term discipline among the athletes and ensure they develop in a structured and effective manner. The introduction of this program signals a new era for QVS Athletics, promising to not only enhance performance but also to foster growth and resilience among its athletes. As the school gears up for the future, there is a hopeful anticipation that this initiative will lead to even greater achievements on the athletics field.
