Anare Tabakaucoro, the under-18 captain of Queen Victoria School, expressed great pride in his team’s triumph in the Super Deans Trophy final against Nasinu Secondary School. He credited their victory to their hard work, unity, and determination throughout the season.
The defending champions secured their title with a convincing 27-13 victory in the final held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday. Tabakaucoro asserted that the match was not difficult as the team had faith in God and stayed focused on their responsibilities to achieve the win.
He highlighted the importance of their coach’s advice leading up to the game, which emphasized enjoying the match without added pressure. “It wasn’t a hard game for us because we have faith in the almighty God; we just came here to do our job and get the win,” stated Tabakaucoro.
Despite facing personal challenges, the players united as a team. “I’m really proud of the boys’ performance and the teamwork. Even though we face challenges in our everyday lives, we managed to work together and play for each other and our families,” he remarked.
As he enters his final year at school, Tabakaucoro is now focused on preparing for his exams. He also expressed his gratitude to the teachers, parents, fans, and supporters of QVS for their consistent backing.
