Defending champions Queen Victoria School secured a spot in the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal match at HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS made a strong start, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by another just two minutes later. This quick scoring sequence gave them a 13-3 lead at halftime, placing Marist on the defensive.
In the second half, despite their solid beginning, QVS couldn’t extend their lead as Marist tightened their defense and managed to close the gap with a penalty kick, making the score 13-6.
Nevertheless, QVS’s defense held strong, demonstrating great resilience and determination to maintain their lead. Marist made a concerted effort in the final moments, but QVS remained steadfast, preventing their opponents from scoring any additional points.
