Queen Victoria School successfully defended their U18 Vodafone Super Deans title with a decisive 27-13 win against Nasinu Secondary School at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
QVS came out strong, with hooker Waisake Vakacere scoring the first try in the 12th minute, which was converted by fullback Nathan Stephens to give them a 7-0 lead. They extended their advantage to 12-0 when winger Joleni Raiyawa added another try in the 19th minute.
Nasinu’s Samuela Ravoci kept his side competitive by kicking two penalty goals, reducing the deficit to 12-6. However, Stephens responded with a penalty for QVS, increasing their lead to 15-6 by halftime.
In the second half, openside flanker Ilaitia Rakuro scored early on, pushing QVS’s lead to 20-6. Asaeli Gade later secured the victory with another try, making it out of Nasinu’s reach.
Although Nasinu managed to score their first try through Sionasa Verenasau in the final moments, it was too late for a comeback, allowing QVS to celebrate their hard-fought victory.
